MICRO/MOD RULES:  CYSA/FIFA LINKS

PLAYER CARDS/ROSTERS: Coaches need to have an official roster at each game.

UNIFORMS: Nothing can be worn on the outside of a jersey. During cold or wet weather, hoodies and jackets may be worn under a jersey. Knit caps may also be worn during inclement weather. Opposing teams should wear contrasting colors. Individual teams should have same color Shirts/Jersey, Shoes (soccer cleats with plastic, no metal are allowed, and or other shoes deemed safe), Socks, Shin Guards (under the socks) are mandatory and shall be solid plastic or reinforced. Goal Keepers should be identified with a special color seperate from other field players.

SAFETY: Approved safety headgear is allowed. Knee pads may be worn by the goalkeeper or for the protection of an injured player. Any material, at the discretion of the referee, considered to be dangerous will not be allowed during the game. Jewelry, with the exception of medical alert bracelets, will not be allowed. Per CYSA & LSC rules, casts are not permitted.

START PLAY

1. START PLAY: Play should start on time. The center of the field will be marked for kick-offs. Play will restart after a goal is scored and after half time. Wait no more than 15 minute if not enough players to start. Game may have to be shortened if started late.

2. THE GOALKEEPER: a) In all U11 age groups and below: No player should make physical contact with the goalkeeper, or attempt to play the ball once the goalkeeper has control of the ball in any manner and to any degree whatsoever. b) Having "control of the ball” includes, when the goalkeeper holds the ball on the ground with one or both hands. The goalkeeper may be changed during time stoppages for U6-U9, and at regular substitution times for U10.

3. FREE KICKS: All free kicks will be indirect free kicks for U6-U10. No offensive free kicks will be taken inside the 6-yard box (the ball is to be placed on the part of the goal-area line which runs parallel to the goal-line, at the point nearest to where the offense was committed).

4. THROW INS: Will be taken per FIFA rules, except that a team will not lose possession for an improper throw-in for U6-U9. The team will re-take the throw-in until it is done properly. For U10, a turnover to the other team will result if not done correctly.

5. HAND BALLS: U6/U7 Instruct ‘don't use your hands’ loud enough in the direction of player (whistle stoppage ok, results in an indirect kick by opposing team). Warn once, enforce thereafter. U8-U10 whistle stoppage with indirect kick by opposing team. 

6. FOULS: U6/U7 Instruct to ‘be careful... don't shove...don't push...) loud enough in the direction of player (whistle stoppage ok, results in an indirect kick by opposing team). U8-U10 whistle stoppage with indirect kick by opposing team. No headbutts U6-U11.

7.INJURED PLAYER: Stop play with loud whistle and summons the players coach. Restart play with drop ball near place of incident, but always outside of goal area.

8. NO OFFSIDE: No offside rule for U6-U10, offside starts at U11.

9. SUBSTITUTIONS: Will be allowed at the discretion of the referees when time expires, or on any dead ball, prior to a throw-in, goal kick, after a goal by either team, after an injury when the referee stops play, at half-time and when the referee stops play to caution a player (only the cautioned player may be substituted prior to the restart of the game).

10. GOAL KICKS: Will be taken from anywhere in the goal area with opposing players 8 yards from the ball. Attacking team cannot touch the ball before it crosses the goal line. No goal may be scored from a goal kick or indirect kick for U10 and younger, without a second player first touching the ball. Another players must touch the ball after the ball is kicked (same players cannot touch twice). Re do if needed, there are no turn overs U6-U9.
 
11. CORNER KICKS: Will be taken from the closest corner to where the ball went out if the defending team touches the ball before it crosses the goal line. Another players must touch the ball after the ball is kicked (same players cannot touch twice). 
 
12. RESTART PLAY: Following the designated substitution times, play will restart with the team that had possession prior to the whistle. The possession will be taken as a throw-in nearest to where the play was stopped. A kick-off is not required unless a goal is scored.

13. SPECTATORS BEHAVIOR: Rarely someone may be asked by the referee to leave the area of the playing field because of their conduct.
If a spectator refuses to leave the area of the playing field and remains in the sight of the field, this action may result in the coach of the team
in which the spectator is supporting being removed from the field. Spectators asked to leave the area of play are subject to disciplinary action.

14. COACHES, MICRO REFS, VOLUNTEER: Keep players safe. Be positive, be friendly. Strive to make it fun for the kids while they learn the great game of soccer. Players, coaches and refs will sometimes make mistakes, this is ok - the ultimate goal is to learn and grow together, in a positive environment condusive to learning.

MICRO GAME LENGTH

U6 = 4-8 minute quarters (sub at 5 minute intervals)
U7 = 4-8 minute quarters (sub at 5 minute intervals)
U8 = 4-12 minute quarters (sub at 5 minute intervals)
U9 = 2-25 minute quarters (sub at 5 minute intervals)
U10 = 2-30 minute quarters (sub on whistle with ref approval)

MICRO PLAYERS

U6 = 4 a side - NO GOALKEEPER
U7 = 4 a side - NO GOALKEEPER
U8 = 5 a side (4 field + keeper)
U9 = 7 a side (6 field + keeper)
U10 = 7 a side (6 field + keeper)
